PCT 2015 Day 103: Awaiting Fire Updates
- Start: 1,718.8
- End: 1,718.8
- Miles: 0
- Camp: Callahan’s
Last night we had decided to leave today, but on waking we felt unrested and slightly nervous about the fire in Crater Lake National Park. It’s only 4 days away from here and it’s currently on fire, with the PCT closed for a few miles. Most hikers follow an alternate trail along the rim of the lake, and that is still open for now but the projected activity of the fire doesn’t look good on a 72 hour time horizon. We decided to zero at Callahan’s, rest up and await more information. It’s been a lazy day, but it will hopefully be useful. And I get another spaghetti dinner.
